Tunis Sheep

Tunis Sheep

Tunis arrived on our shores during the colonial era. They originated from the fat tailed sheep of Tunsia, a province on the northern shore of Africa.
We have raised Tunis sheep over 20 years and can recommend them with total confidence. It is a wonderful breed and has so much to offer. They are the red heads of the sheep world, with the lambs being born a deep red. Mature Tunis stay red, with a creamy white fleece. They produce an excellent wool, highly suitable to spinners and crafts people. They have elegant heads with pendulous ears and are a medium breed, highly fertile and excellent mothers. They are known for lambing out of season.
